We have very specific settings you should print the parts with, they’ve been designed around these settings. Read more about them.

Right stepper mount assembly

Inserting dowel pins

Take the bottom left stepper mount printed part and insert two 5x30 dowel pins as shown in the image below.

step2

The image below shows the correct placement of the dowel pins.

step3

On the bottom of the printed part you will find small M3 holes below the dowel pins. If your dowel pins are stuck you can use those to press them out using a small hex key.

Adding the flange stacks

It’s time to add the Double Flange stack! Don’t know what those are? Click here.

step4

step5

It’s time to add the Single Flange stack.

step6

The image below shows the correct placement of the Flange stacks.

step7

Lowering the top stepper mount

Take the top left motor mount printed piece and lower it into the bottom left motor mount.

Type: Right stepper top Right stepper top printed

step8

The image below shows the top lowered on the bottom mount, top will have an edge/guide where the bottom part will fit in. There should be some play, this because it makes it easier to align.

Here’s a small collection of images to help you visualize how the final product should look. It’s important to take note of the flange stacks and ensure that your shims are not undersized.

Using undersized shims could cause the flanges to have excessive movement in an up-and-down direction.

step10

Inserting the stepper screws

It is important to align the cable connector on the stepper motor with the angle on the printed part. This not only ensures proper alignment but also helps guide the wire to the ziptie mount for a later step in the build.

step12

Check if either the wires or connector coming from the stepper motor are aligned with the angled part, which is highlighted in green.

step13

Insert one M3X20mm screw into one of the holes to align the stepper motor and clamp the two halves together. Ensure that the screw pokes through the top. Although the image shows three screws at the same time, we recommend inserting and tightening them one at a time to prevent them from falling out during assembly.

When tightening the first screw, make sure not to fully tighten it down as the remaining screws need to be inserted. After all the screws have been inserted, you can fully tighten them to complete the assembly.

step14

All three screws, as shown below should be tight.

step15

Congratz! You have finished the right stepper tower.
