We have very specific settings you should print the parts with, they’ve been designed around these settings. Read more about them.

Left stepper mount assembly

Inserting the T-nuts

Insert the two M5 T-Nuts into the frame. If you happen to have the T-Nuts without the springs you can skip this step and attach them to the M5x50mm bolts later.

You can slightly rotate the M5 T-nuts while pressing them into the frame. They will snap into place.

The placement of the T-nuts is not important, as long as the threaded holes are facing the right directions as shown on the image below.

The image below shows the correct placement of the T-nuts.

Inserting dowel pins - LS

Take the bottom left stepper mount printed part and insert two 5x30 dowel pins as shown in the image below.

Left stepper bottom pins

The image below shows the correct placement of the dowel pins.

Left stepper bottom pins after

On the bottom of the printed part you will find small M3 holes below the dowel pins. If your dowel pins are stuck you can use those to press them out using a small hex key.

Adding the flange stacks

It’s time to add the flange stack! Don’t know what those are? Click here.

Left stepper bottom Flange stacks

The image below shows the correct placement of the flange stack.

Left stepper bottom Flange stacks

When placing the double flange stacks, make sure you do not remove any shim rings, there will be two on top of each other as shown in the image below.

Lowering the top stepper mount

Take the top left motor mount printed piece and lower it into the bottom left motor mount.

Left stepper top printed

The image below shows the top lowered on the bottom mount, top will have an edge/guide where the bottom part will fit in. There should be some play, this because it makes it easier to align.

Left stepper lower pulley

Partly unfasten the grub screw, lower the pulley into the shaft make sure the grub screw aligns with the flat side on the shaft.

Left stepper lower distance

The blue selection is used as an indicator for the distance between the pulley and the stepper.

Measure the bottom of the pulley to the top of the stepper. The distance should be 9.2mm. After you’ve ensured the distance is correct, tighten the grub screws. You could use a little bit of purple Loctite.

The right stepper tower is slightly different from the left, pulley needs to be flipped compared to the one on the left stepper tower. The distance of the toothed pulley to the stepper (same as the image with blue highlight but with pulley flipped) should be 5.8mm.

Inserting the stepper screws

Type:
Amount:
M3X20mm

M3X20mm

Insert 1 m3X20mm screw into one of the holes. This allows you to align the stepper and clamp the two halves together. Make sure it pokes through the top.

Left stepper lower distance

The image below shows the bolt poking through the top.

Left stepper lower distance

Lower the stepper onto the screw, and tighten it slightly. You should be able to rotate the stepper with little force.

Left stepper lower distance

Check if the stepper cable connector faces the blue box shown below. If not, redo the above steps with it facing the correct direction.

Left stepper lower distance

Insert the final two screws and tighten them, don’t forget to tighten the screw you inserted earlier.

Left stepper lower distance

All three screws, highlighted in orange (as shown below) should be tight.

Left stepper lower distance

Congratz! You have finished the left stepper tower.
